Fire Tube Boiler: Definition, Types

What is a fire tube boiler?

A fire tube boiler is one of the types of Boiler in which hot gases by combustion of fuel pass through the tubes. The tubes are arranged parallel and water is present around the tubes inside the shell.

When hot gases pass through tubes, heat transfers from the hot gases to outside water (because of the Conduction and convection heat transfer process). Therefore due to heat, water gets converted into steam.

These types of boilers generate low-pressure steam, hence these boilers are suitable for process steam generation in industries.
